Layla ("Layla," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy and handling personal information responsibly. This Privacy Policy explains how Layla handles personal information when you use our website, archetype quiz, Halal / Haram Ratio quiz, results pages, waitlist, and related services (collectively, the "Platform").

By using the Platform, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

A. Information You Provide Directly

  • Identity & Contact: First and last name, email address.
  • Demographics: We collect your city and country with your waitlist registration, and your birth month and year to check that you meet the minimum age requirement of 18. These details do not determine your archetype.
  • Waitlist Information: When you join the waitlist, we collect the information you submit and, when available, your archetype result from this browser.

B. Quiz & Results Data

When you complete the Layla archetype quiz, we process:

  • Individual quiz responses and weighted scoring outcomes.
  • Assigned archetype results and personality dimension visualizations.
  • Interaction data with result pages (e.g., share actions).

Sensitive Information

Some quiz answers and results may reveal or allow inferences about your religious or philosophical beliefs, values, and lifestyle. This can be sensitive personal information.

HHR Results

The Halal / Haram Ratio quiz is a separate experience about faith and lifestyle. If you complete HHR before creating an account, your answers stay in this browser session for up to 24 hours. The sign-up or sign-in form lets you choose whether to save that result to your account. Existing account results are kept unless you explicitly choose to replace them.

C. Information Collected Automatically

  • Device & Technical Data: IP address for service requests and security; browser type, operating system and referring website domain. Analytics URLs exclude query strings, fragments and individual member identifiers.
  • Usage Data: PostHog automatically collects visits, navigation, selected button and link interactions, time between page views, device and browser information, and product events such as sign-in and onboarding completion. Activity is linked to an account identifier when you sign in, so we can understand returning use and improve the service. PostHog receives your IP address when your browser connects and may derive approximate country or city depending on our project configuration. We do not send names, email addresses, messages, private profile contents, quiz answers, religious scores, or session recordings to PostHog. We exclude form contents and automatic click tracking inside quizzes and private conversations.
  • Security Data: Rate-limit logs and verification status from anti-bot tools like Cloudflare Turnstile.

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate & Verify: Deliver the quiz experience and verify that you meet the minimum age requirement (18+) to participate in the Layla community.
  • Calculate Outcomes: Use our proprietary logic to generate your archetype and dimension scores.
  • Manage the Waitlist: Provide updates on launch status and early access opportunities.
  • Improve the Service: Understand navigation, conversion, returning use and product problems. Account-linked activity may reveal that you use a Muslim-focused friendship and connection service.
  • Platform Security: Prevent spam, bots, and fraudulent submissions through active rate-limiting and automated verification.

We use cookies and similar technologies to improve your experience:

  • Essential Cookies: For authentication, site functionality and security. Product analytics storage is described separately below.
  • Browser Local Storage: We use browser local storage to retain archetype quiz answers and related result information so you can return to your result. This information can remain across visits until cleared by you, your browser, or Layla. Clearing browser storage does not delete information you have separately submitted to us, such as your waitlist registration.
  • Analytics: PostHog analytics starts automatically when you use the Platform. We use first-party browser localStorage for persistent analytics identifiers and session storage for session context. Activity is linked to your account identifier when signed in. The Platform does not currently display a cookie consent banner or provide an analytics preference toggle. Clearing browser storage removes local identifiers, but new identifiers may be created on your next visit and previously collected events are not deleted.

We do not sell your personal information. We share data with providers that operate Layla and help improve it:

  • Infrastructure & Database: Supabase (data persistence and rate-limit tracking).
  • Security: Cloudflare (CDN, Turnstile, and DDoS protection).
  • Product Analytics: PostHog (automatic product analytics, linked to your account when signed in).

  • Waitlist PII: Retained as long as necessary for early access operations and outreach.
  • Operational Logs: Rate-limit counters and security logs are periodically purged once they are no longer needed for system integrity.
  • Analytics: Analytics events and account-linked profiles are retained according to our PostHog project retention settings for service improvement. You may request deletion through our privacy contact; requests include analytics linked to your account.
  • Deletion: You may request the deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.

Depending on your location (such as Ontario, Canada), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information. To exercise these rights, please contact our privacy lead at the email below.

Layla is based in Canada. Your information may be processed by our service providers (including Supabase, Cloudflare and PostHog) in the United States or other jurisdictions where privacy laws may differ from those in your home country.
