Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Layla website, quiz experience, waitlist, and related services (collectively, the "Platform"). By accessing or using Layla, submitting information through the Platform, or clicking any acceptance prompt, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

1.1 Age Requirement. You must be at least 18 years old to use the Platform.

1.2 Representations. By using Layla, you represent and warrant that:

  1. You are at least 18 years old;
  2. You have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms;
  3. Any information you provide, including your birth month, birth year, and location, is accurate and truthful; and
  4. You may use Layla for lawful personal connections, including professional networking. Unsolicited advertising, spam, commercial solicitation, and harvesting other people's information are prohibited.

2.1 Product Status. Layla is developing a friendship-first introduction service for Muslims. Its aim is to help people find friends, activity partners, and community. People decide what their connections become, including whether they develop into something romantic. Current public features include quizzes, results, editorial content, and the waitlist. Planned introduction features are not yet generally available.

2.2 No Guarantee of Service. We do not guarantee that any current or planned feature will remain available, launch by a particular date, or carry over to future versions. Joining the waitlist does not guarantee access or an introduction.

3.1 Information Collection. To participate in the waitlist or access personalized results, you may be asked to provide personal information, including your name, email address, city, birth month, birth year, and quiz outcomes.

3.2 Accuracy. You agree that all submitted information is accurate, current, and belongs to you.

3.3 Integrity. We reserve the right to reject, restrict, or remove submissions that appear automated, fraudulent, abusive, duplicated, or associated with disposable email addresses.

3.4 Retention. Waitlist and onboarding data may be retained for early access operations, communications, analytics, and service planning, and may be deleted upon request or once no longer reasonably required for those purposes, subject to legal obligations.

4.1 Methodology. The archetype quiz uses your answers to describe patterns in how you see the world and connect with people. Archetypes are reflective tools and a starting point for the introduction experience we are developing. They are not a complete assessment of you or another person.

4.2 Entertainment Only. These outputs are provided for informational and entertainment purposes only. They do not constitute psychological diagnoses, therapy, medical advice, legal advice, or scientific certainty.

4.3 No Guarantees. Layla does not guarantee that you will receive an introduction, meet someone compatible, form a friendship, find an activity partner, or develop a romantic relationship.

4.4 Subjectivity. You acknowledge that any archetype assigned to you is generated through Layla's methodology and should not be relied upon as the sole basis for significant personal decisions.

5.1 Prohibited Conduct. You are prohibited from:

  1. Using bots, scripts, crawlers, or automated extraction methods to harvest content or data;
  2. Attempting to reverse-engineer scoring systems or platform functionality;
  3. Bypassing security controls, including rate limiting or Turnstile verification;
  4. Overloading infrastructure through abusive traffic or stress testing;
  5. Misrepresenting identity or submitting false information.

5.2 Enforcement. We may suspend or block access for suspected violations at our sole discretion.

5.3 Respectful Connections. You must represent yourself honestly and respect other people's stated intentions, boundaries, and decisions. Harassment, threats, discrimination, unwanted sexual attention, and repeated contact after someone has declined are prohibited. Do not misrepresent your intentions to pursue a connection someone has not agreed to.

6.1 Infrastructure Providers. Layla uses security and infrastructure providers to operate the Platform, which may include Cloudflare, Supabase, and PostHog.

6.2 Acknowledgement. By using the Platform, you acknowledge that information may be processed through these providers in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for outages caused by third-party providers beyond our reasonable control.

7.1 Ownership. All rights in and to the Platform, excluding user-submitted content, are owned by Layla or its licensors, including all branding, designs, quiz methodology, and software code.

7.2 License. You are granted a limited, revocable, personal license to use the Platform. You may share your own result page or "Share-Card" for personal, non-commercial social sharing, provided such sharing does not alter branding.

8.1 As-Is Basis. The Platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not warrant that the Platform will be secure, error-free, or always available.

8.2 Limitation of Liability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Layla and its representatives shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of your use of the Platform or reliance on quiz results.

8.3 Aggregate Liability. Our total aggregate liability shall not exceed the greater of: (a) any amounts paid by you to Layla in the previous twelve (12) months, or (b) CAD $100.

9.1 Jurisdiction. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada.

9.2 Forum Selection. Any dispute shall be brought exclusively in the courts located in Toronto, Ontario.

10.1 Updates. We may update these Terms from time to time. Your continued use of the Platform after updated Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
